Star Sizes in Relation
The 3 D image below shows the realistic relation between the sizes of some selected stars.
Antares in the constellation of Scorpio is a red giant star which is 700 times bigger than the sun.
Its colour and size show tell us about the fact that it will soon die and end up in a supernova explosion.
Deneb in the constellation of Cyngus is a blue shining giant star with a temperatur of about 11000 degrees.
Arcturus can be found within the constellation of Bootes, 36 lightyears away from us.
It is an orange giant star and its suface has a temperature of only 4200 degrees.
Wega, the brightest star in the constellation of Lyra, is only 3.5 times bigger than the sun
but its temprature of 11600 is much hotter than our central star's.
