Dumbbell Nebula (M 27) in the Vulpecula constellation (May 29, 2003)
The Dumbbell Nebula is about 900 lightyears away. Its shape (real diameter: 2.5 lightyears) shows us what exactly will happen when one day in the future the Sun will die, blowing its gas shell into space.
